Nicole Mishkin is a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst who also holds a current Class A teaching certification. She completed her Masters of Arts in Education with a concentration in early childhood special education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned her certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst from Florida Institute of Technology. Nicole first began working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families while obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Auburn University. During this time, Nicole gained extensive knowledge running Applied Verbal Behavior programs in the home setting under Alice Shillingsburg. Shortly after graduation from Auburn University, Nicole taught in the public school system in Cary, North Carolina, gaining valuable experience as an educator utilizing both Applied Behavior Analysis principles in a classroom setting as well as the TEACCH program based out of the University of North Carolina. When Nicole moved to Birmingham in 2006, she began her 11-year career at Mitchell's Place. While at Mitchell's Place, Nicole has served in many positions, including Supervising Classroom Teacher, Supervisor of the Teach Me 1:1 Verbal Behavior Program, Supervisor of the Early Learning Program Verbal Behavior Program as well as providing problem behavior reduction support to Early Learning Program families and teachers, and Director of Applied Behavior Analysis Services. In addition, Nicole co-founded the Mitchell's Place Junior Council and served as President for several years. Nicole has a passion for helping families and teachers understand how to build skills using a Verbal Behavior approach and how to use a function based method to understand and reduce problem behavior across all settings.
Nicole lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband, Todd and two children, Owen and Caroline. She enjoys making memories with her family, taking classes at her local Pure Barre studio and attending Auburn football games.
